Jim Frey, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, Partner

 

Jim Frey’s managerial and technical background in architecture and construction help maintain Studio9’s balance of design and project execution. His experience in construction cost estimating provides unique value to the design process. Jim is currently coordinating and administering the 220 Riverside Mixed Use Development, Unity Plaza and multiple street improvement contracts for the completion of one cohesive development in downtown Jacksonville under a public / private partnership.

 

Growing up in his grandfather’s cabinet shop, he was introduced to design and learned the intricacies of the business firsthand. He earned his bachelor’s degree in design from the University of Florida and then worked with local A&E firm Gresham, Smith and Partners. Jim gained experience on a wide variety of project typologies, including religious, fitness, mixed-use, health care, industrial and multi-family.

 

Jim discovered his passion for construction management and sustainable design at Edwards Construction Services. He managed a large mixed-use project in the field before transitioning to serve as a preconstruction manager. In this role, he worked with clients to establish budgets from conception to completion. He implemented a sustainable buildings department and oversaw construction of the company’s first LEED Certified project.

 

While pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at UF, Jim established N8 Consulting Group. He reduce the backlog of buildings awaiting the LEED certification process while consulting for the UF Planning, Design and Construction Division. This required working with multiple state agency contractors to assure proper documentation of processes and products.

 

Born in Akron, Ohio and raised in Clearwater, Florida, Jim has been working in Jacksonville for more than seven years and is enthusiastic about Jacksonville’s potential for greatness.
